Door Locks

Featured Replies

right i bought a 2002 vrs a few weeks back needing abit of tlc . last thing ive got to fix is this door lock ,

to lock the door you have to push the handle in from the inside . doesnt work on key fob .

so i took door card off and found it wasnt even connected and he connectors were rather water corroded . ive rear elsewhere is a common problem with water in the connectors .

so cleaned it all out checked all wires and the whole harness back to the connector under the rubber tube into the door pillar all seems good .

but still im getting nothing ? all other doors open and lock fine .

so i thought right lets take the whole lock mechanism out . to find that its not a torx bit but some funky extra teeth star bit, anyone know what this the tool is for these bolts ? or even better the part number for door lock ?

or even if anyone else has had this trouble, and how did they fix the issue ?

many thanks sean

Anyone ?

I too have problems with my rear door not locking, or not unlocking depending on what it feels like at the time. I took the door panel off the door yesterday, only to be stumped by the same bolts you were, after a bit of digging they are called a TRIPLE SQUARE 8mm (M8) BIT. I will be buying this kit from Halfords-its in this kit

From what I`ve read, it`s the solder joints that will probably need re-soldering inside the DLM, if it`s that easy i will be very happy.

Have a look at this thread for a MkIV Golf which is very similar. Hope this helps, will post back when I`ve done it ;)
