Wax...again....

Featured Replies

Hi All,

Lately i've been finding myself waxing the car more often.

Thinking of changing wax in this regard for a regular coating....

Using AutoGlym HD wax regularly then Collonite 476S for winter protection.

Fancied trying R222 though....

R222 Wax

Any comments - good or bad?

Cheers,

Ste.

it is cheaper, £27.95 from uk car care , new sponsor on here, pm them, they are Bradford based Ste has pm details of free delevery and other stuff as he can drop off

Nice one Alan - cheers for that. Just looking at the moment.... ;)

PM sent anyway - just to check availability

A wax is only as good as the paint underneath. It adds very little to properly prepared paint.

Has your paint been machine polished before applying wax?

Liverpool-lad you are preaching to the minister! :giggle: Hard to find a more prepared car than Steves, or mine for that matter

Yes - the car is prepared to a very high standard Liverpool Lad.

Like Alan and Chris - the car wants for nothing and i'm just looking to trial some options on wax.

Chris...... i just happen to have some DJSHW on the way in fact

but not long after ordering i stumbled on the R222, which

for the price..... i still think i might trial it at some point.

Thanks for the comments anyway guys.

If you want to try some of the following Steve....No problem:

Bilt Hamber Finis Wax

Bilt Hamber Autobalm (Sealer)

Bilt Hamber Hydra Wax

Autoglym High Definition Wax

Chemical Guys XXX Harcore Wax

my car had autoglym life shine when new and gets washed evry week washed/leatherd then every 3 mounths it has high defnition wax put on it

no problems with black but you have got to keep on top of it. to keep it looking good pete

We had AG Life-shine on my wifes Fabia Sport

It was rubbish compared to a decent polish, glaze and sealer or wax on my car

Yes...AGHDW is good but only as good as the preparation.

Car dealers just apply Life-shine straight over unprepared..uncleansed paint

They can't be bothered to do it properly

Flipping heck Chris, what happened to the Bilt Hamber Finis Wax you preferred?

Just to add to the mix Ste, R222 is a very easy wax to apply, goes on easily and comes off easily, only trouble with it is that it lasts 5 minutes.......

Sounds like you like waxing your motor regularly, so if this is the case then it's a good one to buy.......

Cheers Simon - was wondering when your feedback was expected... :giggle:

Yes - i have been keeping a good routine recently and just wanted a nice

easy going soft wax to apply on a regular basis. AG-HD is great but takes a bit too much effort;

so was either going back to a quick detailing spray or trial R222 or Supernatural Hybrid.

For the money (plus UKCarCare discount) R222 is very appealing for the 200ml tub!

Sorry, having just moved I don't have the internet at home so it's only during the day I can catch up with what's going on......... :|

R222 will suit you then, it doesn't matter how much you put on it's stil comes off dead easy, like I say it's not that durable but it does look and feel slick once it's on there.......

I still have it Simon!

I use BH Hydra more often..as a QD .on the Fabia...DJSHW on the Octy

No worries. One of my favourites, and it likes going onto really well prepped paint and rewards you with a great depth and finish emoticon-0148-yes.gif

So sounds like it'll be right up your street

It does sound like it might be just the ticket Wardy - nice price too!

Tried some Supernatural Hybrid tonight on the R36.

Easier on and off than AG-HD and a very nice finish

Why not use them both

yeah - might be an option - but then its a test of my photography skills to show the difference! :giggle:

I'll see - the weather is just not playing ball; more rain again today up here.

Out of the two - VictoriaWax looks very different and very inviting to get the first run!

Wardy - do you use a wax applicator, or as per the instructions apply direct by hand?!?

Cheers.
