Yeti Tyres

Featured Replies

Has anyone used the Protex, Ultra Seal or any other type of puncture sealant? These systems are pumped into the tyre and remains in liquid form for the entire life of the tyre. Once the tyre is punctured, the sealant permantly seals any hole and the tyre remains in a stable condition and can be driven without any further work. I know quite a lot of bikers use these systems and it seems to work for them. The manufacturers make great claims on how effective their products are but I do not know any car driver who can verify how good they are. It may be a solution to the problem of the space saver wheels or the pucture repair outfit that most car manufacturers put into new vehicles. I'm due to receive my Yeti in October and would appreciate any comments from members who have knowledge of these systems.

Used a similar treatment in the tyres on both my Freelander's and never had a problem with it. One good thing was that the pressures needed checking less often.

My wife had this on her previous Panda 4x4 and certainly never had a puncture nor any loss of pressure at all. Obviously, without a control, I cannot say if that was definitely down to the gunge!

My feeling was that it increased road noise - but that's a very subjective issue anyway.

Overall, nothing to lose and perhaps some gains?

I use this Sort of stuff in my tubeless mountainbike tyres. Works a treat. Have a puncture? Take out thorn and spin wheel. Puncture fixed. Brilliant.

I have used Slime in motorcycle tyres before.

These products do work well but it is worth bearing in mind that you need to check the condition of tyres on a very regular basis to ensure that there are no cuts or penetrating objects in them.

These products will also mean that a new tyre must be fitted if you have a puncture that the goo couldn't resolve as the repairers won't fix them.

My side wall rupture would nor have been fixed by this......

A prime example of what I was talking about
