It makes your legs look shorter when you are stood at the front of the car

What benefit is the splitter?

Apart from visual appearance nothing as you shouldn't be driving fast enough in the UK for it to make any aerodynamic benefit. If you are then the boys in blue might not take it too kindly :giggle:

OK, as you can see I've doubled the number of screws in this area and added extra towards the rear of the splitter to stop "flap"

Screws are Halfords Self Tappers - nice and big.

Let me know if you want any more pics!

That's because the tyres are filled with Nitrogen. No other reason :)

The only plan I have left for the outside is a tap with the lowering stick.

sounds like a plan make it so!

I don't get the green caps for nitro do they have special valves only in green or something or is it a requirement? Ive never had it.

Depends how you do it. I bought a complete grille and got the Surround colour coded so all in was circa £200. For Just the colour coding it would be circa £60-70.

You could also do it yourself which would cost you a paint set which is about £10

I did a DIY job on a replacement grille but just sanding down the chrome to key it did not seem to be enough despite a decent job of painting and priming.... so I started with a sharpened 1" paint scraper to take the chrome off the original grille last weekend. One trip to casualty later to get the top of my index finger glued back on  and the project is on hold for a bit - another partial success from muckipup

PS - the car looks great Carl! TBH I followed your lead with DRLs and other stuff but not sure I would do the same with the splitter even if I had a FL Octavia.

Just replaces normal air, standard valves etc, less leakage and less unsprung weight, more tyre garages seem to be doing it as standard now

The green cap is a legal requirement so I'm told. It was explained that when the tyres are replaced a garage needs to know if they are nitrogen filled as a sudden inhalation of that much pure nitrogen isnt good for your health. He wasnt impressed when I pointed out that air is 78% Nitrogen. But as it was only £2 for all 4 tyres I thought I'd give it a go.

The benefits supposedly are:

Better Tyre Wear

Slower pressure loss (due to bigger particles)

Better fuel consumption due to pressure maintained

Looks good Carl emoticon-0103-cool.gif

I'm in the 'no to splitter' camp though I'm afraid. It's the corner detailing I think....

Just seen this aand have to say I'm really loving it...looks sweet...

you paid for it? all the independent garages fit nitrogen as standard round here, only quik fit charge for it, and none put green caps, got chrome valves and caps anyway. Must be a more litagation culture round by you, if they lost an arm round here they would have to finish their shift :giggle:

Or do they just tell you it's nitrogen?? ;)

Everywhere else I've spotted charge extra for 'pure' nitrogen.

It is on the canisters , with special warning labels , like you get on fire extinguishers / gas bottles etc

They're clearly good to you lot in Yorkshire then emoticon-0148-yes.gif

The only time you get it free round here is if your having new tyres. I just had the air replaced in the tyres with nitrogen thus had to pay. But 50p a tyre I thought was quite good considering it's circa £2 a tyre normally and you often pay 50p now for the air machines at petrol stations (you do round here at the shell garages anyway)

Then again I am "darn sarf"

Best RS colour. Love the grille, but that should be colour coded from the factory. Nice work. Splitter not my cup of tea.

Like the splitter Carl. Where these the ebay ones?

Yes mate the one that was advertised in the group buy :)

Looks ace. Love the splitter!

Was out in the woods today and as i'd cleaned it yesterday thought i'd take some more pics of the Assassin. The Anthracite Grey looks awesome when it's all cleaned and the wax has brought a nice deep shine to it. Also gives people a couple more pics of the Splitter.
