Heated Mirrors Not Working

Featured Replies

The heated mirrors on both sides of my octy are not working they move ok and there seems to be only one fuse for both operations. Has anyone got any ideas ?

Stupid question but have you the mirror selector control in the centre ? It only works in that position ie not L or R.

yes I have had on the heating setting in fact I have tried everyway I could

Is your rear window heater working ?

A friend had an Alfa and the AirCon & Heater window weren't working, fuse was gone. Sorry if this ain't much help.

yes the heated rear window works fine as does everything else electrical

The heating elements in both mirrors failed on our Fabia and were changed under warrenty when the car was 2 & 1/2 years old.

I think it is quite common for them to fail but is not picked up by some owners.

If the car is still in warrenty then the dealer should change them. If outside warrenty, they cost just under

Is there an easy way of checking to see if they do work? Its not like they would mist up like the rear window would because of the the temp difference between inside and outside.

Spray some fine water droplets on them (i.e. with a plant sprayer thingy) and they will get warm enough to evaporate off the water.

As for failing, it is so easy to select the middle position for heater and forget they are on. I guess this is probably why they fail early.

or you could put the back of your hand on the mirror because of the heat:)
