Coolant warning light?

Featured Replies

Hi guys, this morning after starting up my VRS and just driving a few hundred yards there was a beep and the coolant warning light came on. I stopped, shut off the engine and checked the coolant level, it was fine. Turned the engine back on and continued on to work with no problems. Then tonight went for a short run and beep and the warning light is back on, turned the engine off and back on and all was ok again. Anybody heard of this before? what could the problem be? I just bought it from a Ford dealership last wedensday.

It happens mate, don't worry, my levels have always been fine but I remember when it was happening frequently I slightly overfilled the max line and it stopped the beeps. Seems to happen when the weather turns a little cooler.

new coolant bottle will sort our problem. it's the sensor that is up the spout! Will get worse, especially when it gets cold. New one is only about £14 from eurocarparts and is easy to fit (you oly lose the coolant in the bottle if ou do it right)

+1 don't ignore it. I've changed my bottle once. Coolant light started coming on again recently and thought it was the above again. Turns out I have a coolant leak and signs of early head gasket failure.

Guy at the garage is going to post a sensor out says it is an easy screw out screw in job, is he right? if so saves me a 100 mile round trip.

yep, had it on my octavia and wifes fabia vrs, temp sensor, easy to get at and change, remove plastic cover

only thing is do it with the engine cold or you will scald yourself, and with coolant cold there will be no pressure in the system and if quick you will loses little coolant

It's the level sensor in the bottle, and on the Fabia you need to replace the bottle. The sensor is built in and can't be removed. A replacement bottle is around £15 from your dealer.

+1 new coolant bottle, happened to me
