Occasional Jerking/hesitation when accelerating

Featured Replies

I have a 03 reg Octavia L&K 1.9 Tdi and I am occasionally hearing a puffing noise as I accelerate (particularly when in 3rd gear) with this comes a (difficult to describe but bear with me) hesitation in the car ie it distinctly pulls forward and then backwards about 2-3 times and then is fine again. My Warranty runs out soon and I want to know what the problem is (I have had one person say that it is due to the front wheels needing replacing - find this hard to believe as if this was the case why isn't it happening all the time - Also that the seal on the front driver side door is gone and needs replacing but this again doesn't sound plausible to me that it could make the car jerk backwards and forwards), if it is serious and if it would be covered under warranty.

Many thanks for taking the time to read this and I look forward to any help you can give me.

I wonder if it could be early symptoms to a turbo related issue. Mine did something similar (but when in 2nd, iirc). By use of the word related, it could be sticky vanes, MAF, n75 or vacuum problems.

Thanks for the advice - did yours get fixed and was it under warranty? Mentioning anything to do with the Turbo sounds like it would be an expensive job to me - Not sure why this wasn't picked up when it took it to Skoda and asked them to have a look at it under warranty?

I'm pretty certain that the guy who said that the wheels need replacing was talking out of his anal oriface!! ;)

Seriously, with a 2003 L&K, we need to know whether it has the 110 engine (red "i" in TDi, 5-speed box) or the 130 engine (red "Di", 6-speed box), because there are significant differences between the 2 engines.

If I tell you that the advice about the wheels/tyres on the front needing to be replaced came from Skoda after checking it under warranty - would you be suprised?

It has the 110 engine as only 5-speed box.

Haha you need a new Skoda Dealer as the current one appears to be a tool :dull: Unless there is a separate issue the front wheels/bearings/etc.

I believe that is the issue is raised as a warranty problem before the warranty has expired then it still has to be sorted by the dealer/warranty supplier, but I would confirm this - check your paperwork.

Helpful advice - Think current Warranty (expires 2 weeks time) covers £500 each claim only but have just been offered £195 RAC extension that seems to cover much more - will definitely check into it though.
