Quick question....

Featured Replies

Hi

My dad had an octavia on a 59 plate and with his central locking fob you could open the windows by doing a set button sequence.

The question is... I'm picking up a Tdi pd100 mk1 and wondered if this was possible to do?

Also- after a set speed do the doors lock automatically? Is this standard or how is it done?

Thanks very much...

Yes you can open the Windows with the don and close them.

The central locking thing migjt be able to do that using vagcom.

IIRC, its not possible for to operate the windows on the Mk1 Fabia via the key fob

Anti hi-jack is programmed via vag-com and it will lock the doors when you reach 10mph

How do you open the windows with the key fob then?

Thanks :)

This sucks! Im trying to find out before I go collect my car!

Stick the key in the door and turn right and keep the key in this position and after a few seconds both front windows come down, turn left and keep the key in this position to close the windows

So there's no way of doing it without using the key in the lock?

:(

Not to my knowledge

Hold the open button down for a while.

Def works when closing the car as ive done it.

Actually its done with the key....long day, late night etc lol.

Ok thanks or your time any way. The car is an absoloute Jem! Can't wait to go pick her up! The wait is killing me!

Why not have the factory alarm/immobiliser removed/deactivated

and buy an aftermarket alarm system, something Thatcham 1 rated

should help with future insurance quotes and you may

find over some time that it pays for itself.

Some years back I had a Toad AI606 on my Golf GTI, got a small

discount with my then insurer (Eagle Star I think...)

It had a 4 button remote and could accomodate different additional

modules to include the sort of features you are looking for.

Then you can have full closure, remote starting, panic alarm etc

Whatever you want really... That was years ago, I'm sure modern

alarms from the likes of Toad and Clifford etc will have come

on leaps and bounds since then.

We had a Toad fitted to our SDI a while back and it came in at

around the £300 mark all in and fitted. But it wasn't the top

spec model. I think they still do the AI606 but I'm not certain

It's been a good alarm so far with no false alarms in a couple

of years now. I'd buy a third should the need arise.

£500 should cover it I reckon including Professional installation.

Many insurers consider the standard security good enough on modern cars. I inquired with Brentacre about whether having a Tracker would drop my insurance, and they said there'd be no discounts as the OEM Fabia vRS security was already considered excellent.

I realise that, it's why I highlighted the word may ;)

I was just suggesting a way for the OP to have

the functions and features he is after.

Also he is buying a PD100, not a vRS and I'm not sure

if they have an alarm as well as an immobiliser.

Our SDI was immobilised only and after the break in

(we heard nothing) we decided to get an alarm fitted.

Oh yeah, missed the PD100 bit. Too early! :)

Grr666, thank you very much for that. It was jut a quick query really, I've got no intention on changing the alarm system until it breaks or needs replacing! However the skoda dealership that I have purchased the car off said that it dfinately has an alarm and immobiliser. (that's what he said anyway).

Also- what is the flashing red light by the door lock represent once the car is locked?

Thanks :)

It's just to indicate the fitted system is armed and functional.

But the same light is on cars with an alarm/immobiliser

or just an immobiliser so double check.

Easy way to do this is by sitting in the car, then

lock and arm the system, sit still for 30 seconds or so and

then start waving your arms about.

If it has an alarm it should go off...

Enjoy your new car mate

Will give this a go when I get it- thanks for your time and knowledge.

And I'm sure I'll enjoy it! The waiting game is killing me!! :(
