Wipers - Need definate answer please..

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

Stock wipers were excellent IMHO. My Bro in law who is a mechanic stuck some Aero bosch ones on last service and they are abysmal. Barely clear any rain and juddering all over the place. Very unsafe to drive with them after recent downpours.

Now i am after another set. Can someone here please recommend an online link to some blades which do not jar and i assume are flat edge???

Thanks

Bosch really arnt the wipers they used to be. Last few pairs I used were abysmal.

I've been using cheapo ebay Aero ones for the last 3 years and they are great for under a tenner.

The seller I use is lhnest and i've used them on my old ST, 182 and the OH's Cupra.

They last well, and at about £7 delivered in 2 days they're dead on, also, not loud and rattly! And they're the easiest i've ever fitted.

What I do reccoment though, is that you clean the window and the blades throughly with a glass cutter to remove any grime and something like rainX to treat the windows and clean the blades afterwards.

This way your wipers will last tons longer :) Might even ressurect the ones you have!

+1 for the cleaning of the windscreen and clean the blades. I've got boshe aeros on my current car and they are spot on. However when the windscreen and blades become dirty they are similar to what omyou are describing.

Give them a clean and see how you go :)

All the best.

Are these the ones? I was looking at these yesterday....

Hiya

I have tried this. Used Rain-x and Vinegar also...

I think my bro-in law stuck any old wipers on IMHO. Which is why my wifes car never goes to him!!!!!!!!!!!

The bosch ones do play up if they aren't fully clicked

home, they're supposed to be a snug fit

and take quite a tug to click them home.

I inadvertently didn't put one in properly and suffered

the symptoms described in the OP.

Mine are 2 years old and still doing the job well

but my screen is Aquapeled up.

Let's hope your brother doesn't read this forum :p

I've used Bosch Aero for over a year and they've been spot on, so not sure why you're having probs. Still, if you can get similarly performing ones from ebay for a lot less, give them a go and report back, as I'll be having some!

Remember you could have had them for 2 years but the car hasnt covered many miles in that time or it could have covered 50,000 miles.

Inevetibly the one with the higher miles will have used the wipers alot more frequently than the other there for wearing out the wipers faster :)

Also just as a side note... with the winter weather approaching, remember not to turn your wipers on when your windscreen is frozen as this will ruin the edge of the blades.

That also drastically decreases the life of the wipers :)

My wife will refuse to do this! :giggle:

She blew 5 fuses last winter!!!

lol Make her pay for them... or just leave them up the night before if you're expecting heavy frost :)
