in the same boat m8, seems to be a common problem

They should do - I believe the speaker is located on/in the dash pod. It should ping for stuff like handbrake on while moving, low fuel etc, so that could be an easy way to test the speaker. If it still works - might be the door sensors.

Do the interior lights turn off based on the drivers door? (Trying to rule out the sensor)

sorry to hijak- with mine i get the beep wen i get low fuel and warns me of ice. but wen i open my driver door the '' door open '' symbol doesnt come up but wen i open the passenger door it does.

Sensor fubbard?

Would suggest so, yes.

Think it's usually referred to as a 'microswitch' if you wanna search further. Does the light work on other doors? (My Fabia never had a door open light. emoticon-0106-crying.gif)

yeah the '' door open '' light lights up when all other doors are open but not the drivers door.

I'll have to research on how easy or difficult the job is to change the micro switch lol.

how come urs never had a door open light?

Looks like a good find on that link (well, I looked at the pictures! :D).

Mine? Not sure, it was one of the early ones, so it might have been a mid-life change or something which I missed out on.

Thanks for the info guys. the interior light does go out but hadnt noticed if the door open warning light comes on the dash panel. Shall pop and have a look. So the general feeling is that it could be the door contact sensor rather than the headlight switch?

Sensor fubbard?

turnes out my symptoms are the same as yours ie the drivers door isnt being recognized as being open

Search for door microswitch for more info, as it seems to happen to a few people.

You might be able to confirm the sensors status with VAGCOM, but I'm not 100% on that bit.

So could changing the microswitch solve the headlight warning buzzer problem?

I'd expect so, but I'm not 100% - in short, I don't want to tell you it will, for you to spend money, and then it not - if you get my point?

Given the fact the buzzer works, but the car doesn't know the door is open, it looks like it's almost certainly the issue though. If it were me, it's what I'd change.
