Does this forum need cleaning up?

Featured Replies

I've been lurking the fabia threads the last few weeks, trying to gather as much information as I can prior to my vRS purchase, and whilst I have received a plethora of information through searching and reading (a big thank you by the way), I can't help but feel a little overwhelmed and irritated but the long list of pinned subjects in this section.

Don't get me wrong, I think each pinned subject is as informative and interesting as the next, but the current way the forum is presenting itself is leaving little room for new subjects, resulting in poor response once the thread falls onto the second page.

I propose perhaps a more consolidated approach where one pinned subject could title 'common faults to look out for' or words to that effect, which could contain descripted links to a long list of currently pinned subjects. In this case, the mentioned new pinned thread could contain:

The door leak thread

EPC thread

Handbrake springs thread

Power steering thread

Whilst another Could be titled 'fabia mods and general information' (or words to that effect) and contain:

The wheel fitting thread

Pd160 thread

Running costs thread

Wheel alignment thread

Fan resistor

Service intervals

Etc...

Using this method would tidy up the forum a lot, saving a lot of space whilst still keeping all important subjects pinned. We did a similar thing on the UK-Polos forum a while ago and it help a lot.

I made this public as I'm not frequent enough on here yet to acknowledge who the relevant mods are to contact, but also thought a discussion would better for other opinions from more frequent users, as I'm in currently still in the 'unkown an un-contributing' category.

Apologies if I have over stepped my relatively new and unknown status here, but it was just an observation I wanted to share!

Wrong section

Really? Just go ahead and tell us what you really trying to say :D

Your probably right, I'll have a look when I get a chance and have a tidy up

I would have to agree. All the stickies are a tad irritating.

I see your point- however the stickes are mainly very good and sooner or later apply to most people. As long as there is a new section for the stickes to go to then it would be great. If they are lost into the long list of other threads before long people will be asking questions about the set issues.

Just my views :)

That's exactly how I feel. As a newbie to the Fabia, I praise each one as they've been very informative to me (I don't know if I came across sarcastic in the original post?), but a couple of pinned threads containing all the currently pinned subject would help clear this space up.

A Stickies section would solve it. Put them all in there

This is EXACTLY what is needed :)

Not at all :)

I have been saying this for a while, 17 stickies and only 13 normal threads on the first page is simply too many. I'd move the stickies into another section, possibly Fabia Guides or create a new one, then as you suggested, create just 2 stickies linking 'common problems/FAQ', and the other for mod threads.

I would also move all the Project/Rides threads into "Project Journals".

On the subject of Stickies, can someone create a definitive guide to what make(s) of Tyre are reconmended for the Fabia vRS, please.
