fabia 1.2 105 tsi se plus

Featured Replies

Going to have a look at one on saturday brand new £ 10500 gonna cost me £5500 to change from my 08 2 1.4 ...any comments on this engine, the spec is superb ...so any comments welcome please.

There's been lots of chat about the engine, you'll love it. Mk 2 drives better than the mk1 to.

105Tsi is a hoot to drive. Watch out though as some members are saying the fuel costs are way more than they thought they would be. I test drove the Monte Carlo in the 105Tsi form, I ended up going for a 105CR though as they are way more economical and I love diesels. Also, £20 a year road tax helps

I agree the 1.2 Tsi engine although a hoot to drive, will drink fuel once you go over 60mph :( the 1.4 tdi is a hoot to drive and not thirsty depends what you are after really, personally I think if you like to press on go for a diesel

SE + spec is very good, almost makes the Elegance redundant to be honest. You'll be hearing alot of petrol vs diesel debate on here....its all down to personal preference. The 1.2 TSI 105ps is a corking little engine and it has to be said performance wise overall its quicker than a 1.6 CR 105; unless you are doing loads of miles its easily the better engine. The CR's lack low end punch and in my personal opinion (given that I run a 2.0 TDi CR 140 VW Golf as a company car) are pretty dull.

Fuel economy once its done a few miles will be very good if driven sensibly but like any petrol engine it will use fuel if you use the performance. I think its reasonable to say you'll easily average 40mpg in mixed conditions.

Oh you are going to have some fun with this one, believe me! It is a superb motor, and the 105ps is quite astonishing, it's very quick indeed - I understand it is roughly equivalent in torque to 1.8cc engines. Hold on to the wheel tight though, and be careful accelerating off tight bends, esp at roundabouts, as the turbo will activate suddenly. A little bit of torque steer under heavy acceleration but it is all good fun. What wheel/tyre set up does it have - the 205/45s can feel a bit floaty on a rough surface. That's a very good price too - enjoy & good luck. Don't hesitate. If you go for a test drive in a Monte Carlo though, don't forget the suspension is lowered on it, so it feels a lot more responsive and hard than the SE Plus will be.

+1 maybe ? Aye go for it ;) just dont drive it like it's been stolen ( most of the time anyways ;) )

i would go for the diesel ,petrol is going out of fashion, dont forget diesels hold there value better

He's only doing 13k miles in 3 years. Diesel isn't suitable for him. That's why I went petrol, I do less than 8k per yer.

Pics? :)

even if i was doing 1k- a year i would still go for diesel unless i was getting a high performance car

I've got the Monte Carlo as a third vehicle until May when my TT Tdi goes back. I recon it'll only do 1500-2000 miles in the first year but still went diesel. Have just been out for a spin again, I am genuinely pleased with the performance from the 1.6CR. I'm addicted to the torque of diesels, they have so much poke it's unbelievable how far they've come on :)

Mark, it's been said already really but it's down to personal choice - petrol or diesel, that's pretty much all now. The DPF's are not a problem on diesels even on low miles. You don't even have to take them for a weekly run up the road to clear them, but it is sensible to do a run now and again, just take the long way home. My sister has the CR1.6 and does just 5 miles per day in the week (mostly town work) and it's fine. Although at weekends she does more miles. DPF never a problem. The old chestnut thing about the economics or running a diesel on short annual miles is not really applicable now. You can still be much better off with a diesel. As has been said they still hold their value better than petrol engines, and with much lower tax and much much lower fuel consumption, and the fact you can buy one for much the same price as the petrol versions now if you do it right, you can be quids in. But the TSI petrol is a great motor and I've driven many of them now. More torque than VW's own 2.0ltr 115bhp petrol engine. Pretty good. Either way, which ever one you buy you just wont go wrong! Good luck with that.

The 105Tsi engine is a delight, agreed the fuel consumption is not as good as hoped, but when is is these days? Seems the manufacturers are getting worse better at making up their fuel figures. Same with my Alfa MiTo though, they claimed 50.2 Avg, I get 38.4mpg. Don't think Skoda are any worse then the others in this respect.

its the 1.2 12v im going for not the 1.2 105 tsi ..i tested both of those and to be honest for what im useing it for round town theres no difference between the 2 of those and my 1.4 16v.....all the fuss and hardley any difference between the 3 of them....lol...so it boils down to do i want a brand new car with se plus spec..and i love that spec.

Hi Markbsc the 1.2 12v is not a bad engine at all and the SE plus spec is one of the best skoda do if it was me i go for it  hope it hlep you out all the best
