peculiar electrical fault

Featured Replies

Hi all, my first post. I have a strange electrical fault with my SM. I noticed that the light in the front passenger door was not working so assumed that the bulb had blown. I checked the bulb and found it to be OK. When I put it back the light came on so assumed loose connection. The next day when I came out from work and got in my car I noticed the light was out again. This time I also noticed that the door open indication on the display was not working on the front pasenger door or the courtesy lights being operated. All other doors worked. Annoyed, I drove home but when I got out the car all three functions were working again! Since then I have made a note of what time it does and does not work. I have found that when the temperature in the car rises the functions stop working, i.e hot sunny day in car park. Driving home with the air con on cools the interior down and hey presto! starts working again. This fault is temperature related but not sure what is failing to be causing it. Any ideas? :wonder:

Sounds like a faulty door switch/lock.

Sounds like a fault with the "door open" switch or sensor. Give the dealer a call and see what they want to do about it.

Hi,

emoticon-0106-crying.gif to hear your having problems, my son had similar issues on his Fabia I, interior lights working intermittently and locks not opening every time. Had the convenience control unit replaced followed by the boot and offside rear door lock; been fine since touching wood.

Hope you get it sorted,

TP

Welcome cool car, I would suggest what the others have said

Visit your dealer who will fix it.

Thanks all, I will get the dealer to have a look

Had similar problems in my Superb, turned out to be a water leak damaging the unit and corroding the wires. Well worth getting it sorted sooner rather than later. Only obvious symptom was the interior light being intermittent. What I did not realise was the brake and tail lights were similarly intermittent.
