Hi all.

I am a new member to the BriSkoda forum. I am a taxi driver and use a Skoda Octavia 1.9TDi PD DSG Estate model for work. The car has cost me an awful lot of money over the years from new turbo's, to dual mass flywheel replacements, new alternator, fuel pump, solenoid, rear wiper motor, literally hundreds of bulbs and the list goes on. When it is running right its a dream, but it can be a real pain in the ass and i dont much rate our local skoda dealership, so usually stick to the local VW centre boys.

I recently took it into the garage as a non runner. It turns out there was no power getting to the fuel sender unit or pump, and the air intake pump was also faulty. To get me back on the road the auto electrician by passed the ecu controlling these parts.

I have looked at replacing the main ecu/management system at a cost of about £900. This seems a bit steep and have looked today at a company in Plymouth called theECUdoctor Ltd. The offer to accept ecu's by post, repair them within a day or two and post back free for £120.00 all in.

Has anyone else had this kind of thing done totheir Skoda, or would it be best to go for a new unit ?
