Monte carlo wiper problem

Featured Replies

The first fault developed today the windscreen wipers stopped working. Got the RAC coming to check it out. will let you know what they discover later :wonder:

Fuse ?

Bonnet open? (or bonnet catch switch faulty?)

Not sure I would of called Skoda Assist out for a non breakdown mind?

If its the fuse you still realy need to understand why the fuse failed as it fails to protect the rest of the circuit.

Bonnet switch ? Is there so if bonnet not close wipers won't work ?

I am assuming that the MKII Fabia has caught up with just about all of the rest in the VAG marque?

When the bonnet is open the wipers do not work, this way you cannot damage the paint on the bonnet by accidentally turning the wipers on whilst the bonnet is open (the wipers would then catch the bonnet)

If the car has a bonnet open warning (in the MFD etc) then it is easily detected, the switches are not an uncommon failure.

On the Fabia MKII I'm pretty sure that the wipers do not 'foul' on bonnet when it's open? I am willing to be corrected on this one.

All fixed. It was a blown motor. Top marks to dealer SMC Exeter Thank you for the speedy service

I would have, considering the weather at the moment it would make any car a liability. Imagine driving on the motorway only for it to start chucking it down with rain :p

That and it's an offence to drive any car without working wipers
