Engine warning light

Featured Replies

Hi there,

I have had the bleeping coolant temp light flashing, I know its the expansion bottle. Now the coolant temp gauge stops working now and again. And today the engine warning light is on. Can anyone help please?

Temperature sensor. And possibly thermostat & housing.

If you're getting one, replace both whilst you're at it...

But if you've left it a while - you could be looking at more - but that's where i'd start.

Cheers bud. What about the engine warning light? Is that connected to the sensor?

Only way to be sure would be vag com... But i'd look at curing the initial cause first and see if the warning goes away before potentially throwing more money at it.

If anyone near you has vag com, or you have it yourself, it would probably be very useful to you.

But if it was me, change the faulty parts then see what happens at the least.

If the header tank looks like it has a layer of oil on the top of the coolant or looks quite discoloured it would be a head gasket. Check to see if you have a Temac gasket fitted.
