Creaking from front right (A-Pillar or in dash)

Featured Replies

Hi all

nothing major, but just a slight annoyance, at low speeds im getting a creaking noise from what seems like its coming from inside where the A-pillar meets the dash, or on the right against the A-pillar

see below pic, where the yellow highlight is:

if im driving slow and steer left and right like a snake it is most noticeable then, creaking only on the right hand side (driver side) but doesn't happen on any bumps or at high speed, its almost like the creaking noise you can get when you drive with a window open.

now the car has had Cupra front suspension bushes and new ARB drop link and ARB bushes.

Could be it top mounts? or anything like that? or could be something loose inside the dash?

Thanks!

Had a Creaking on mine.

Turned out to be the bonnet hinges creaking, try applying a little weight and movement to the top of the bonnet and see if it makes the noise then.

just an update to this, the creaking doesnt happen on the motorway, only at low speed

thinking it could be top mount? anyway to test this theory?

ok, still getting this creaking/knocking

had my car MOT'd a few days ago and thought something may crop up whilst he was checking the suspension/wheel etc and he said all was ok

so does this rule out bushes, top mounts etc?

are drop links checked in MOT?

I suffer from the exact same creak, I thought it may be where the top speaker sits on the dash?

Is the fusebox lid seated correctly?

On mine it was the rubber stoppers that the back end of the bonnet sits on. (Sounded like it was right at the bottom of the windscreen) Tried removing them and the noise went away.

In the end I figured the stoppers must have been there for a reason so put them back in and smeared them with grease. No noise for the last couple of months!
