First service cost?

Featured Replies

I've trawled the forum but can't find a mention.

Does anybody have a idea of the cost of the first service?

Combi CR170 4x4.

A smidge over £150 @ Pullman VW Durham - on the 18th of July - waited for it - this was a Long Life service.

EXCELLENT service and customer care provided.

You must do alot of miles Phil. I'm only on 11,000 miles and mine is a few months older than yours.

£235.00 at Wayside in Milton Keynes

If you get services done by a VW / Audi / Seat dealership does it have any impact on the Warranty? Just thought it may be a useful negotiating tactic with the Skoda dealers? I've previously found competing VW dealerships willing to negotiate over servicing prices.

No, you can even have it serviced at an independent. As long as they follow procedures and use manufacturer supplied or recommended materials.

Cheers

Steve's Right,

As long as a servicing garage follows the schedule, uses genuine parts, and are VAT registered, there is NO effect on the warranty of your vehicle. - In the case of Skoda, the entire mechanical part of the vehicle, has all 4 badges on it anyway! (just look at the hubs next time you wash it, or hoses next time you check the oil) - the local VW guy's in Durham, can also carry out Warranty work and order spare parts etc.

So, best to shop around! - a saving of around £50 in my case, for using a main VW dealer, over the main Skoda dealer...

That's useful about the servicing. I'm having variable servicing programmed into my Superb - what sort of miles between services can I expect and any ball park costs for each one please? I appreciate that by the nature of the service interval being variable it will differ on type of use /miles the car is put through.

Hi Dave,

This is my vehicle status readout for first service. If it helps.

Thanks Phil. I'm expecting to do between 12 & 15k per year so on that basis I will be well into my second year of ownership before it really needs its first service - and by the looks of it I should expect a bill of between £150 and £200 then. Did you have an oil change half way - I'm old school in that regard and it seems a serious amount of miles on the original oil? I've not looked yet as I'm not picking my new baby (even if rather large) until Monday, but I take it that the 170DSG uses the Magnetic 10-40 semi synthetic stuff as I've been using in my current 170 Tiguan?

Any top tips on ownership besides "enjoy"!

Thanks again

Dave

I've just paid for the cars first service and it was £280!!

Mind you VW paid for the 10k, 20k and 30k FOC, the 40k included pollen filter but its on variable now so wont need doing for a while

I looked at this as local dealer suggested it when i was in for parts and If I'm not mistaken it's 2years and up to 20,000 miles, so effectively the 1st service only for a Suoerb. So I decided not to bother. Maybe they've changed it now.

Cheers

Steve
