Picking up a new car next monday.

Featured Replies

Gone in on a fun weekend car with a couple of other

family members.

It was originally going to be a Porsche Boxster but insurance was an

issue with Mrs Grr so we had to rein it in a bit and choose something

a little more sensible as we will all use it from time to time.

(Shame, I really fancied the Boxter... But what we've chosen should be fun too)

Picking it up next Monday and once it's had a good clean I'll get some pics

up. Until then...

What do you think it is?

Micra convertible?

Nope. They are hideous.

Can't forget the pink one Hammond reviewed with a bag on his head

S2000? Kinda a lot of options and very little clues! :p

Octavia VRS petrol chipped.

Focus RS 500

We could go on for a long time

Dammit. That was a quick game,

Yep it's an MX5. 07 Plate, Mechanical roof, 16k

think it's called the coupe over here.

Silver with darker wheels. Black leather interior. B)

It's quite a smart looking little car but not as much

fun for me as the boxster would have been.

It's the 2.0 6 speed variant so it'll go about the same

as my vRS but being RWD should be more fun in the twisties.

Haven't driven RWD for years. Quite looking forward to it.

Pics to follow.

How disappointing, no prizes.

Great stuff, if it ticks all the boxes, then what more can you ask for.

I will say there a bit cramped for baby chair in back, and shopping. LOL

If I'm completely honest I really had my heart set on a Boxster.

It's the main reason I agreed to chip in TBH.

Always wanted to get my hands on any Porsche really.

We've spent a fair bit more on the 07 MX5 than we were going to spend

on a 54 Boxster but it's literally a fun car and we couldn't beat

a 4 figure increase in the insurance on my multi car policy.

Mrs Grr has held her licence for less than 5 years which was

the main sticking point.

Also one of the shareholders insisted on a powered roof B)

so all the cheaper MX5s were out of the running.

It's only cost £325 to add the MX5 to my policy full comp

with protected no claims etc

I haven't even seen it yet, just put up a third of the loot.

I must be crazy.

We've bought it to celebrate my mother in laws news that

her cancer hasn't spread to her brain. She's just had a load

of scans and it's stable at the moment.

She was worried she may have to give up driving and finding

out she doesn't have to has given us cause for celebration.

So we decided sod the expense, it's more important she enjoys

the rest of her time with us as her condition is sadly incurable.

You're only here once so what the hell :D

Good news from the MiL - MX5s are cracking little pocket rockets.

Sure you'll enjoy it - if we get the weather!

Enjoy it we had a 2l MX5 Sport 2007 model a soft top though for two years as a third car. Took a trip from here in Scotland to Hull, Zebrugge down thorugh France back up through Switzerland, Germany, Luxembourg and Belgium. Great trip and a very comfy car. I am just over 6ft and fitted fine. Was even enough luggage space for us both.

Few things to look out for are blocked drain holes(may not be a problem on CC) steering geometry is generally set up badly.

mx-5.com a great forum for info

Here's a couple of pics emailed to me today.

Sadly I won't get to see it in the metal until

the weekend so these will have to do for now.

There were 2 others but they were blurry.

I'll be cleaning it and taking some better ones

at the weekend.

But that will be after its had a good thrashing :D

Hope you like them.

You shouldn't be dissapointed in the drive, I love driving my Mum & Dad's 1.6 mx5 when I can, its a real hoot to drive. ( you don't need lots of POWER to have fun)
