Warning!

Featured Replies

For everything on the Furby,or so it seems!

Water bottle was low the other day so I get an audible warning.

Put the rear seats down to load some golf clubs.A warning display of folded seats came up on the dash!

Bit cold outside? A warning buzzer again.

This car is like Miss Whiplash :D .Treats you mean if you don't look after it.Shame there isn't a more sensible warning for low oil , probably the most important one skoda ;)

The low fuel warning beep is handy IMO. Much better than just a light...

What else beeps that I don't know about yet? :)

Really??? I dont get that

Yep.Both seats folded down and the image comes up on the dash for a short while when you start the car.Not seen it on other cars :)

It could be quite dangerous if the seats aren't put back up properly when people are sitting in the back. I guess that's what the warning is for.

Lights on beep, engine/boot open beep, handbrake not fully disengaged.... I also get the 6 bongs to tell me to fasten my seatbelt when I start the car - must get round to disabling that ;)

Chris

Oh, the handbrake is another good one :)

Strange. What years your furby? Mines a 53 and it seems that they keep adding stuff!

September 2004 so 54 plate.Presumed all vRS's would have it

You're not missing anything with the extra wipe IMO. It tends to make things worse in this weather, particularly with the 'fan' washers, as they tend not to leave much excess water. If you're getting any spray from a car in front on the motorway, the extra wipe will usually give more smears :(

I think this one's only on the 2005 model which comes with a 3 point centre seat belt. As the top mounting is in the backrest, it would be about as useful as a chocolate teapot in an accident if the backrest isn't securely fastened. Pretty good idea I think.

My old Polo TDI had a low oil pressure warning which took me by surprise on the one occasion it sounded. Luckily the day before its first service.

The low fuel warning buzzer always scares the living daylights out of me . . . even if I know it's due any mile now.

Tap the wiper arm down once after doing the spraying, but before the car's finished with its 3 or 4 sweeps of the wipers that happen as you spray. Then the extra sweep shouldn't happen.

There is also a beep/bong warning when a brake light bulb blows. ;)

I wish it were possible to change/turn off the temperature 'bong', the others I don't mind. What's so special about 4 degrees anyway?! 2 degrees possibly or something, but it's a bit random. I take it it's not something you can disable or change with VAG-COM?

4 deg C is apparently the point when ice can start to form on the road. You may be able to disable it with VAG-COM - a lot of the beeps can be like the handbrake one. Will take a look next time I have it connected :D

Chris

Can't believe it's that high to be honest. BMW have theirs set at 3, and then the display only flashes with none of this pinging business :)

I think the Corsa I had years ago also had it set to 4 deg C, but none of my other cars have been advanced enough to have an outside temperature display ;) Thinking about it, it must be able to be disabled via VAG-COM as mine just flashes and doesn't beep at all. :D

Chris

Damn - I should have had it looked at then, when I last had VAG-COM connected. I'd wonder whether it was possible just to lower the 'activation' temperature. Don't particularly mind the ping and the flash, just at a lower temp :)

Steve

Can Anyone get all these beeps & bongs to work at the same time, I would be interested to know if it plays a recogniseable tune.  :P

Steve

 black ice forming, with handbrake on, no washer fluid, a blown bulb, and no fuel :D

Came across the seat backrest warning on my friends new Polo which was faulty. Doesn't the oil pressure light glow orange for low oil level? With this VW software can you re-code the dash panel to enable/dsiable various things?

From what I have been told on another thread it's too late when the oil warning light comes on.Apparently you have already possibly damaged the engine

Seems odd to me

Seat belt warning

I have a 2004 Octavia and have grown utterly sick & tired of that damned noise as soon as I switch on the ignition. I asked my dealer to disable it, but they failed. When I asked them again they aparently consulted SkodaTechnical, who searched the 'knowledge base' but failed to find a solution.

It's a pity they did not seach the seat base instead because they could have then done the job properly.

If you look at the seat belt stalk on the driver's side you will notice a thin wire running down it. this is the wire from the sensor in the latch.

It runs under the seat to a two pin connector on a plastic carrier under the front of the seat. Once you have found this connector, unplug it and the system will think the seat belt is latched and will not chime at you any more.

Hope that is of help to someone.
