Seriously considering a Mk2

Featured Replies

I hope that's petrol and not diesel - even for petrol it's pretty poor if driven easily :(

Not helped by the fuelly thing in the sig saying 36mpg -average-. :giggle:

Diesel would be much better. Driving as unefficinetly as possible to get a comparison I can't get mine under 60mpg.

Average from new is 73mpg... but I've only got 75% of the engine you are getting.

Well I know I'll get at least 50mpg from the se and I'll be happy enough with that....

Well, at least until I start down the spiral path of hybrid turbos :)

I still get 53mpg average... road driving.

That's with 0-60mph in about 5 seconds.

I think we all should be buying the new KIa 88mpg

Nice

lol :)

That was a mixture of A roads and town work roughly 75 miles so not too shabby imho.

My average in my sig is over all fill ups, so the average of 6 or so fill ups I think. Its not going to be much more than that with the traffic these days and only go on longer journeys at the weekends etc.

I used to enjoy the 50mpg in the MK1 vRS but I prefer the sound of a petrol now B)

You must be a driving god when it comes to economy lol :D on a long run I can get about 65 (calculated) is your 65 and 73 indicated? I've never seen close to 73 and your averaging that with track days and quarter

Miles etc aswel as having more power so I've no idea how you do it lol

I'm talking about in my Greenline II with it's 1.2 diesel, hence the "75% of the engine in the Monte" comment.

My (mkI) VRS is 53mpg.

There are real world fill to fill figures using fuelly.

Ahhhh right lol my bad :)

I did just shy of 220 miles this morning.

Local roads from my house to the Motorway. In total maybe 120 miles 'pure' motorway, split up by 2 lane motorways like the M42/A42, M18 etc... and then 100 ish miles of decent A roads (dual carridgeway and single Carridgeway, maybe 50/50 of each) and then bits any pieces of country lanes.

I got 48.8 MPG in my 1.4 TSI VRS. Only just over 2k on the clock, and I wasn't hanging about. 70 cruise on the motorway, & Dual carridgeways... 60 Cruise on the other NSL's etc... It would have been 49.1, but I got stuck behind a tractor with no way past for the last 2 miles doing 15 mph.

Once its run in, I'd like to think I'd do 50mpg+ in the same conditions.

I'll risk saying I recon I could get 60 mpg now if I had cruise at 60 on the motorways.

I'll risk saying you probably wouldn't ;)

okie poke. I've got to get to London on Thursday potentially... if that happens I'll chuck the cruise on at 60 for the first 50 or so miles. If it registers close to those numbers I'll fire up a picture with my word its not just an opportune snap :) When I've had to do those sort of speeds on the M42 for short periods the 'immediate' MPG certainly shows plenty of numbers in that range

Regardless, my 48.8mpg for a 180 BHP turbocharged and supercharged warm hatch which will do sub 7 to 60 is pretty healthy already !

I'd like to know what your digital mpg error figure is.

Our Yeti is 3% out, but our Greenline II is about 20% optimistic.

Best do three full tank fills and work out the actual figures per tank of what milage covered to how much fuel it takes to fill up each time.

I can get nearly 100mpg on a long run in the Greenline... but it's actually 78mph max over a tank. Quite a difference.
