TDI tuning boxes and MOT's

Featured Replies

I'm approaching the time for an MOT and just wondered whether it was worth removing my tuning box or turning it down prior to getting it done?

I'm on my first diesel car so I don't know how smokey is too smokey when setting the tuning box up!

Has anyone had problems with passing the emmisions test with a tuning box fitted?

I know Scoobychris had no problems but I know mine smokes so the box will come off for the MOT when it comes around

Yep 2 weeks ago my Fabia sailed through the emissions with the tuning box still on. My car isn't smokey though and the test is for particulates rather than exhaust content so you may want to turn yours down if you think it's very smokey. I did give my car a good rag before it's MOT as well, so maybe that helped ;)

Tried it ...the more you put your foot down the bigger the cloud :D ....but it's fun doing it

aah the good old tuning box. I had one on mine, but the smoke cloud was so much people were waving me down and telling me to get it sorted by the dealers so I took it off.
