oil consumption

Featured Replies

hi !

In 6000 km (3750 miles) I burned 1.7L of oil .I drive a bit sporty but not much, I frequently hit 4000 revs

The oil is Liqui Moly 5W40 full syn 502.00/505.00 spec

Is that normal?

as far as my knowledge and experience goes it's not normal at all (1.7l ...)

in the last 9000km done i had virtually no oil consumption, and i'm not driving granny style

you're either burning it or you do have a leak

off topic: salutari din timisoara

0.5 of a litre every 1000 miles is reasonable, if your car was under warranty most manufacturers wouldn't investigate unless it was using 1L per 1000 miles or more.

It's quite strange,1 year ago my car didn't burn more than 0.5-0.7L between service intervals (10.000km),my driving style was the same, and same oil.

I think the level of burned oil increased after having trouble with the ignition module, and I ran(very gentle driving) about 10 miles with a bad missfire ,in 3 working cilinders

So...is it possible to damage the engine in 10 miles of driving with missfire?

ok....noone interested.

Doubtful, but what is causing the misfire exactly?

In 7,000 miles since I've had it, mine has burned only a negligible amount of oil, and I've no idea of the history of it.

How clean the oil is can have an effect. Might be worth a full change?

oil has 6000km and is clean, doesn't need replacement ,I'll change it at 10.000 km

the ignition module failure caused the missfire
