I have just noticed that my recently purchased fabia estate (52 plate) has got the near side tail light on as bright as a fog light. The right hand works ok as does the right hand fog.

I'd check the bulb is in correctly and its the correct bulb

If the bulb the correct one, or is not in wrong way around, could be a bad earth. May be worth swapping the RH and LH bulbs just to check that its not the wrong bulb fitted.

It will be the wrong bulb requires type 566 and not type 380. Different offset pins involved.

Yeah it's common for people to stuff the wrong bulb in. As xman said, the correct bulb is 566 with offset pins.
