PD130 Boost Pipes

Featured Replies

Has anyone got any photos of the standard boost pipes on a PD130 engine? I'm sure I have a leak and I think the lower intercooler pipe connection to the intercooler is loose. Either that or there is a sleeve as part of it. I'd just like to see what they look like as normal.

Did my lower boost pipes weekend gone as I had a slight boost leak. I didnt however take any pictures but if you have one of yours I can let you know if its normal.

With mine I took everything apart cleaned each pipe and connector then put it all back together with a smear of black silicon sealer on the last two joints (not the joint near to turbo).

Pic of new pipes if they're any help.

Notice that the lugs stick out, if worn they're usually very rounded.

Also did the same with mine apart from the silicon sealer.

I cleaned out my interccoler too.

I had a lot of gunk round the bottom intercooler connector aswel.

There isn't a sleave on as standard. I think someone may have tried to bodge it up.

Be prepared to buy a new pipe if that's the case.

All the joints seemed pretty solid and the lugs are still pretty healthy on mine but it still sounds whistly like there's a bit of a leak somewhere. Still goes like stink though so not too fussed.

My intercooler was remarkably clean :)

Mine was clean inside but outside was a mess.

I'd be suprised if any air was passing through it at all. There was a lot of gunk completly covering the outside on the front. Obviously several years of road crud that's been blasted through the grille at it!

All clean now though.

I now think that my leak is actually from the vacuum hoses as it's a very squeekly/squawly noise that only happens at a certain revs.

How did you clean the intercooler? with the bumper on or off? if you did it with bumper on how did you access it?

I took the wheel arch cover off and got at it there.

Seemed better than removing bumper and gave loads of room to work with.

The fiddliest bit was removing the MAP sensor connector on top of the intercooler. Just didn't want to come off!

Don't know how similar it is on the Fabia but it was three bolts and only took about 10 mins to get off including removing the wheel arch cover.

I cleaned all my boost pipes and intercooler out last summer. Removed the bumper to do so. 4/5 torque screws in each wing, 2 at the top by the grill (open bonnet for that) and 3 plastic clips under the bumper.

Once that's all done slide bumper forward and disconnect the fog lights and temp sensor. Shouldn't take more than 10-15 mins.
