Silencing Sat nav during phone call

Featured Replies

Hi,

When I make/recieve a call in the car the system is smart enough to mute the audio that's on at the time, however when I'm running under guidance of the Nav fairy iot doesn't shut her up which is somewhat annoying.

I've been through the settings and even RTFM but can't find out if it's possible to do this, surely it is, any help would be appreciated!

James.

Despite all it's strongpoints, that is unfortunately something you cannot do anything about.

But on the other hand, you have the most well integrated multimedia/satnav unit for a car ever made.

Ah ok, guess it is what it is then, no big deal and as you say as a whole package it's pretty good from what I've seen so far.

Perhaps the difference is in Skoda's perception of what the driver might need. If it were me and someone called me I'd want the radio to mute. However, if the same happened to the SatNav and I missed a turn because I didn't hear the instruction I'd be pretty ****ed off.

I turned the sat nav sound off altogether. Personally I find that the occasional missed turn is compensated by not having to hear ten reminders to take the 3rd exit at the roundabout! ;)

I do miss the phrase "continue on this road for a long time" every time I turned onto the M25! ;) ;)

Cheers

You could always stop and kick swmbo out then you will have total silence :giggle::rofl:

It's impossible to silence her, she's female :D

It is essential for me to have the voice prompts of the Columbus switched off, but still be able to get telephone and / or other Blutooth devices through the system and be audible without having to turn sound back on.

Is this going to be feasible ? I really cannot have satnav voices cluttering things in the cabin but I do need phone use through the system.

Just to clarify, my enquiry is not quite the same as that of the OP.

I do not mean to interrupt the satnav voice. I mean to have the satnav voice silent by default but still hear phonecalls without having to change any volume setting.

( I'm in the dark about this beause I don't have my Superb yet. )

Yes you can do this. You can switch off sat nav voice, but still have media and phone at whatever noise level you need.

Somewhat agree however some half way house like I had in the XC90 would be good, that used to 'bing' during a call alerting you to an upcoming instruction as opposed to blurting it out, you could then follow the instruction on the screen.

You should be fine as the satnav has an option to not make announcements IIRC.
