how much for service

Featured Replies

im going to get my octy serviced soon at my local skoda dealer the last time i got a service at my dealer in hamilton lanarkshire the changed my oil and my sump plug plus an alround saftey check and then charged me £260 thought that was a bit harsh so what should they do when they service my car such as o/ filter a/ filter and f/filter plus oil change and sump plug and the last time i went to skoda was at 60000 miles and since then have went to a local VW garage and they done A LOT more for a lot less

The cost will to some degree depend on the level of service you are having, as detailed in your owners book.

From memory for my diesel it is something like this, if on fixed servicing

10k/1yr: Oil, Oil filter, Air Filter

20k/2yr: Oil, Oil filter, Air Filter, Brake fluid, Pollen Filter, Fuel Filter

60k: Cambelt change

As I run mine on variable I tend to do all the filters every time I change the oil. £260 does sound rather expensive for just an oil, oil filter and a new sump plug.

260 for an oil change thats insane

had and oil filter change at skoda for i think about £89.99

I think you have a branch of A for Audi in Hamilton (or Motherwell). They'll come in at more like £120 for a base inspection service on fixed servicing, and preserve the dealer service history.

Find a good independent. Oil & filters change is hardly rocket science! Main dealers are a rip off.

i just changed oil oil filter air filter and fuel filter for £48. all are very easy jobs spend £20 on a haynes manual and save urself a forture in the long run.

One of my mates is insisting on keeping keeping a full service history on his Toyota Corolla T Sport 1.8, and that went in for its service and MOT the otherday, they managed to charge him £700 for that, and I think all they changed was the oil, filters, new disks, and fixed an minor oil leak (from what he tells me). The car is nearly 10 years old and he has no plans on changing it, iirc it has only done about 60-70k. Oh, and because the dealer isn't even local he had to keep their hire car for an extra day and deal with the insurance (he had to organise and pay for at £25/day admin charge) - life is much easier when you use someone you can walk to....
