Featured Replies

hi all

my fabia vrs is drinking a littie or losing some cooltant somewhere

i have to fill up the expansion bottle after ever 300 miles so not really bad

there is some pressure in the system is that right when hot and cold? + the water pump and cam belt was changed about 1000 miles ago and ve only had the car for about 2 months from a garage the car got 106k

would the seal need changing but the thermosat?

all hope will be great thanks

If you're getting a pressurised system...

...Then chances are you have head/head gasket trouble.

The water loss is one thing, but if the coolant is really pressurised then it's definitely what it sounds like to me...

when you mean pressurised system ....is that when you unscrew the cap on the expansion bottle and there

is a hissing nosie form it?...or do you mean when the levels are low then they jump up to nomral levels?

Standard hissing for a second or two is normal. If the level looks low on the bottle and you undo it and the water level rises... That's pressurisation. And at the extreme level, if you undo the bottle and water flys everywhere, that's extreme pressurisation.

And if it's pressurised, i'd suspect head trouble from my experience...

Look down the side of.the coolant bottle after a long run if it's wet the system is overflowing and pressuring up. Try changing thermostat first if no different either head gasket or cracked head

Ok its not leaking from the bottle or getting wet after a long run...and its only hissing..so is all nomral

could it just be the seal on the thermostat which i have seen in other post they just wear and leak a littie bit

the car does not over heat by the way stays at 90 all the time

I'd replace cap and keep an eye on it

Mine use to do this - turned out to be a crack in the radiator that opened up when the car was hot. It would pressurise too. But only showed up when a pressure tester was put on the rad. new rad fitted problem went away!
