Octy Ambiente 90bhp engine has gone flat...

Featured Replies

Have owned a 2001 Y reg Ambiente Estate for 88,000 miles with a few niggles but otherwise reasonable performance. Now I have found that for the last few months the car is very sluggish, very poor response to throttle and it takes an age to reach 70mph on a motorway.

It's as if the turbo is not working or there is some fuel supply problem. It behaved a bit like this the last time the timing belt was changed (60k) but it was rectified by a quick trip to Chathams in Edinburgh, who said that the turbo had not been reconnected properly(?). But last service (83k) they could find nothing wrong....

Added to that the 'lights on' and seat belt bongs have stopped. Will have to dig out the fuse chart....

I have also had the wipers seizing -

Sounds like it could be a loose pipe on the turbo...?

I'd say so' date=' or possibly one of the following - according to Honest John:

'[i']Intermittent power loss on TDI 90s and 110s may be due to one of the following:- sticking turbo due to dirty oil; dirty or faulty mass airflow sensor; exhaust gas recirculation solenoid valve sticking open; wastegate valve actuator rod sticking; faulty throttle switches; faulty temperature sensor; loose or leaking brake servo pipe or turbo boost pipe from fuel pump to turbo; faulty ECU[/i]'

Thanks for the replies - new to this forum so didn't expect such a quick response. I will point my friendly local Skoda garage in the right direction! Loose pipe on the turbo sounds likeliest.

Classic air mass meter problem symptom.

ello,

I had a similar prob on a TD Mondeo i used to own. I noticed staining on the radiator, as if caused by a fine mist leaking from somewhere.Realised the leak was coming from what looked like a small pipe. Obtained the new bit and noticed it was called a "boost pipe" fitted it and the turbo boost reappeared.
