Maxidot Trip Question

Featured Replies

Quick one.

My Maxidot on my Mk2 VRS on some menus (Route, Time Driven, Av MPG) has 2 viewing options. Long term and that 'trip'

Firstly, how long does the long term stay for? Mines on nearly 1500 miles now, would be good if it lasted indefinitely !

Secondly, the 'trip' (1) option seems to keep itself if you go back to the car quite quickly (5-10-15 mins)... Is the idea that its that 'days' travel?

The '2' option (long term) is for up to 9,999km if not reset. Can be reset at anytime up to this distance.

The '1' option memory is for up to 2 hours. Handy if you stop for a break during a trip.

For memory'2' I think it resets after 100 hours of driving. I use memory '2' for long term accurate fuel consumption measurement - i.e. note distance covered over, say, 3 fill ups, keeping a note of how much fuel you've used in that time. I have found the MFD consumption readout is accurate to 1 mpg.

As explained above.

Memory 1 - Short Trip: Records trip data and keeps it for 2 hours after switch off. If you turn the ingition on after 2 hours, it has automatically reset to 0.

Memory 2 - Long Distances: Records data continuously with a maximum limit of 99hours 59minutes of trip time or 9.999KM of trip distance, which one comes first, when it automatically resets to 0.

It's a quite smart combination actually. The way I like to use it is like this:

When I have done a fill-up, before I start off, I manually reset both memories. Then, from the 1st memory, I find out what is the consumption of every different trip I make. Some interesting conclusions can arise there especially If you had not such a trip computer in your previous car, as to which trips are more fuel-consuming even though you wouldn't suspect it.

Then, from 2nd memory I see what was my total fuel consumption since I filled up, until the next one. And also, by switching between the two in the mean time, I see how much is the total consumption influenced by some small "harmless" everyday trips which I hadn't suspected so far.
