has my turbo gone? if so where do i go from here?

Hi all I lost all boost last night in my 04 faiba vrs.

started making a wine then a loud squealing noise.

i pulled over and had agood look over it and nothing.

thinking I had blown the pipe off the turbo I drove home at 30mph

I have had the car on ramps and removed all the boost pipes.

all pipes are fine and fit fine.

when I rev the car and hold the turbo it feels fine but the autcuator vibrates?

is the turbo dead?

there is no smoke from the car

if the turbo is dead what do i do? replace with a new stock one?

replace with a golf pd 150 turbo? is this a stright fit?

I am running about 170 bhp and i dont want any more but I do want it reliable.

The car is just short of 90k car has an oil and filter every 3500 miles.

do I break the car up for parts?

I cant give advice on weather its broken but you should get a used pd130 turbo for £100ish, used 150 for a bit more, or just get a new/reconditioned turbo from turbo technics or turbo dynamics. Around £150 to fit, sorted. I think breaking it is a little extreme.

Any oil dripping or sprayed over the engine bay??

This is what happened to mine.....

there is some oil, it seams to be out of the joints in the pipe work and its wet under the brake cyclinder.

I dont want to replace it with a second hand one i want to replace with new.

it around 175 BHP now so that or maybe 190 ish? would be great I also0 dont want all the power at 3500 rpm and nothing low down.

as for breaking it. if I need to spend around £1500 i think I would break it. but that would be a last resort.

without looking around you can get a new standard PD130 Garrett turbo for £625 from Turbo Dynamics, so all in you're not looking anywhere close to £1500

I have been making aload of calls today and turbo dynamics said to me the stage 1 hybrid they offer is an oem pd150 unit! £875 plus vat!

on a better note cr turbo engineers offered me a new pd 150 unit for £645 plus the vat.

they also said that the egr pipe want fit so a delete pipe is needed.

so can a golf pd 150 egr system be used?

if an egr delete pipe is used can it be mapped out so the ecu light goes out?

also most of the pipes are worn on the joins. so can i uprate these? or replace with new oem ones?
