Hi,

Similar scenario when I dropped to the citigo.

A couple of plausible reasons, the first was mine.

1.Change of car not noticed, so quoting on an old car, eg superb (modified 200hp) to citigo 2e

2.Not AF specifically, but sub 200 market is not a specialty. Easily out gunned by the comparison sites who can afford to cut.

Try the Other sponsors too, but do get in touch with Dan, if he's not already. There is movement, but the more standard the more 1/2/3 insurance end, the harder it is to compete on price alone.

I paid more than the comparison site, but 400 less than my renewal estimate. I'm happy I know who I can call and get a response I like or name and shame here when I don't get my little "enzo" courtesy car :D

175 for a modified mk1 vRS is amazing. I'm 40, 10yrs + noclaims nil points (ever) and pay fractionally more for a citigo, bleeding postcode lottery! Thats almost too good a price, check excesses etc, I used to bump my excess up to silly amounts to lower premium. Lesson via the $$$ to pay should I whack anything.

Thanks for the reply Colin, I have bought my insurance now for £179 from saga (yes I am a lot older than you) . Maybe my previous employment background helped as I used to work for North Wales Police as a civilian radio op and being disabled I don't do many miles per year ( maybe 7k) so I do have something's in my favour and as you said 'postcode' which is great for insurance but not much good if I wanted to go to a meet as they always seem to be hundreds of miles away and I just can't afford the petrol (being on a disability pension sucks).

Anyway. so long as I can drive my car and still enjoy it not a lot else really matters. Come September I will have had the octy 4 yrs and it is the first car I have had that I didn't want to part ex after 12 months. Good car.

Thanks for all you do for the club members

Ian
