Traction control light

Featured Replies

Just need a quick answer to something please.

I have recently noticed that under hard acceleration in first and second gear my traction control symbol lights up even in dry road conditions

Is this normal or are my front tyres (General Tyres Altimax UHP) so poor that they can't cope?

My car is a standard Vrs petrol

Thanks,

Try backing off the loud pedal a bit.

My 1.8 TSi does it if I drive too hard.

I would say that's at least partially down to the current tyres fitted.

I'd say the tyres are partly to blame....alongside your right foot!

Yep, **** tyres + lead boots.

I can break into a wheel spin ,given the right circumstances, up to 3rd gear in my boggo 140bhp turbo diesel......

And I have OE spec Michelins.

Yikes, 3rd gear?! Very glad I have Parada2s fitted then, as I have no such problems in a non-140bhp turbo diesel :)

Thanks for all your replies and fair comments.

However I am a little worried that I have given the impression that I am some sort of traffic light tyre smoking racer.

It has only really happened when I have had to pull out from a busy junction etc and had to use abit more gas to do.

Looks like a change of front tyres may be needed!

I have no problem really with controlling wheel spin- the third gear wheel spin was coming off a roundabout with the inside wheel unweighted. My old Passat 1.9l PD100 was a real pain pulling away smartly from road junctions.
