Featured Replies

i bought a 2004 1.2 fabia estate on monday and the engine management light has come on the car seems to be driving ok , when driving at 70 the revs are at 4000 is this normal or could it be something to do with light comin on , before we bought car the timing chain and 8 valves were changed as the last one broke

All guesswork without a code scan.

All guesswork without a code scan.

i scanned it and no codes came up and light is out now , wat should the revs be at around 70mph , cheers for the reply

As Moggy's suggested, you'll need a fault code scan before anyone can really tell you what it means. You could see if anyone in the VCDS forum is near you, go to a dealers (likely £40-80), or you could get yourself a scanner for the same amount (this £35 one was recommended to me, although I ended up getting this one).

++EDIT: doh - largely irrelevant as we were typing at the same time :(

lol i scanned it and it came up no codes so i pressed clear and now the light is out but im sure it will return

An EML that doesn't log a code means one of two things. The scanner used can't read all sections of the system, or the ECU is faulty. REVS at 70MPH is irrelevant, unless you are looking for clutch slip.

Sounds like that engine has had it, if you bought it from a dealer you can get a refund. If you bought it privately you're going to have trouble.
