Knocks and Creeks Part 2

Featured Replies

In my previous post i mentioned that I had two wish bones and track rods replaced and still I was getting knocks and creeks. People suggested that it could be top mounts or drop links including front anti roll bar.

I took my car to an independant Skoda specialist and he looked at my suspension. All parts were in good working condition but what he had noticed was that the rear mounting bolt and front mounting bolt had come loose. After tightnening these bolts up at least 99.5% of the knocks and creeks have gone.

He confirmed that the anti roll bar, top mounts and drop links were fine. The problem now is that on very bumpy roads I still have this annoying bloody knocking coming from the nsf of the car but it is no where near as bad as it used to be.

The only other issue found was that the gear box mount bush is slightly worn but he told me that at this stage it is nothing to worry about.

Chirst knows what this knocking is then. And how the hell did the big bolts start coming loose? They were tightened to their specific torque settings that was described in the Haynes manuel! Could it be Haynes has got the torque settings wrong meaning I didnt tighten the bolts enough or is it because I re-used the old bolts instead of using new ones as Haynes suggests.

Whatever I have tried so far, this knocking will not knock off!
