what tyres will fit my vRS?

Featured Replies

Need 4 new tyres for the vRS, especially with winter coming up!

Just wondering what will fit......will 205/45/17 or 205/40/17 's do it?

Thanks in advance

James

That would knock out the speedo alot. The circumference of the tire would be smaller.

Most people would have the 225 – 45 – 17 these are sometimes cheaper as this is a more common size.

Hi, got 225 45 r17's on mine, a common replacement on a vRS. Had 205's on before and the handling seems better than before. They are also slightly cheaper.

I thought the 50/45/40 part was the part that would change the circumference (e.g profile from edge of rim to top of tyre?) If mine are 205 currently, does that mean that they are skinnier than most people have?

If you're saying 225 are's a standard fit and cheaper, then I'd get a wider tyre for less?

Sorry if i've got it wrong?!

Yep, rolling radius is almost the same for 225s and theyll be wider s should provide more grip.

205 50 17 tyres are the std fit. The 225 45 17 is the closest(for the 17" rim) to that to reduce cost BUT for the few £ you save on the tyre you need to think what am I gaining/loosing.

With 225 45 17 I personally get 1/ worse MPG(only slight but also need to bear in mind point 4), 2/ more noise(only slight) 3/ the speedo is slightly out(says I am going faster than I am) 4/ and also on the same trip to work it says its 42 miles instead of 40 with the 225 40 18 LCR wheels I use (std fit on the LCR and on the converter almost spot on size wise)

so with all that in mind It is a lot cheaper to get the 205 50 17 Toyo t1R than it is the 225 45 17 t1R (just as a comparrison, specially when I can get over 12k out of a set)
