It's been said on many many posts about winter tyres/wheels. 195/55/15 offers exactly the same rolling circumference as 205/40/17 so you should be ok.

i got my steelies and winter tyres from them though had to select the car as a 1.2tsi model fabia instead of a vrs.

i checked the fitment last week and can confirm that they fit with no problems and bolt straight on.

Actually they are 2.6% different which is a little more.

You are completely correct - I have, of course, gone for 205/45/16, not 50s (original post amended)

Difference 0.8% - I got that bit right

I will do the same. I did spot the tsi, but got in a muddle after the response from the shop...
