Help - loosing water & low oil pressure light

Featured Replies

could someone please help, had LOTS of problems with water light (had numerous sensors etc - including from Skoda garage) and now recently been loosing water (from somewhere - bottle needs keeping an eye on and topping up now and then).

The oil pressure light has now come on, but there is sufficient oil in the car. Also noticed some white gunk on the oil filler cap so thought it was the head gasket gone - but local garage done a head gasket test (?) and say it's ok, but No 4 cylinder is a little low on compression. Have been advised that it's not worth repairing as could be a major job and to effectively sell it for scrap. Car seems to run ok though???????

Fabia 1.4Mpi silverline 2003

Any help or advice please, car has been brilliant up to this point (apart from water sensor and irritating beeping) and don't really want to 'scrap' it!

thanks

assuming they have done a presure test which was ok, and not a sniff test, I would try a new pressure cap and then a new oil pres' switch a little low comp' is not your main priority up to approx10-12% difference anyway

I had the same problem with my old 2002 fabia 1.4 mpi silverline

Turns out the thermostat housing had disintegrated causing a water leak into the oil (no idea how lol) which made the water coolant light come on every two weeks and cause the White gunk in the oil cap.

£60 to fix for a new thermos and housing I also got an oil change. Then I never had any coolant loss or White gunk after that right up until I traded her in!

Really hope yours has this problem as I was also worried about head gasket, but it turned out to be something simple!
