Brake Fluid or DIESEL LEAK after Front disc change

Featured Replies

Bear with me as i try to explain , had the Front Discs and pads , replaced at garage on friday ( mr clutch ), only done 5 miles since fitting , noticed on taking out from parking up overnight that there is fluid on my garage floor , OFFside fRONT INDICATED . tHOUGHT IT WAS brake fluid leak , however on looking under car it appears to be coming from the Box Section that runs parallel to the Diesel Fuel Cooler , there is a hole in these both sides . Nearside is bone Dry OFFside is wet and also around the underseal . Can you confirm if the diesel fuel pipes run along here . Isit a solid channel , should they have Jaked up across it , looks as if it has an indent were they have done this . Got it booked back in on wednesday as away , without car untill then , luckily , . If this is the cause how would they have to fix it . Feeling this is going to be a bit of an argument with them . Any advice Thanks

Well 24 hrs latter , car been sitting in my garage , with Large sheet cardboard underneath , and deffo , leak from the offside rail , have to assume there are pipes undearthis and something is broken and kleaking . Have to wait and see what the garage says on wednesday , well Pxxx OFF .

Does it smell like diesel?

Caliper pistons pushed back to facilitate the pad/disc fitting, causing the fluid reservoir to over flow and drip.

yeap I agree, pistons in caliper been pushed back. Not enough room in the brake master cylinder for fluid to back into, fluid push out down found its way into the chassis rail.

yes as the others have said its brake fluid , it runs down the os chassis rail and drips out of the bottom, they either pushed the pistons back and forced lots of fluid out of the resiviour or spilt some refilling it, just wash it down with soapy water all around the resiviour etc and it should wash it away.

Thanks for the answers , had not thought of that possability . Taking it in Wednesday for them to check over anyway , at least i then have the problem registered with them . Had a bad idea it was a fractured Fuel line in the Chassis Rail . Cheers will let you know what they say .

What was the result? Seem to have the same problem on my 56 plate Octavia VRS diesel. Strong smell of diesel since I had my brake fluid, air filter, fuel filter and oil filter changed and what could be brake fluid or diesel dripping from somewhere near the rear of the fuel cooler...

You need to take the car back to the garage that carried out the work asap,if it is diesel there may be a pipe or fitting not connected correctly.

Could leaking fuel from the filter - pipes on top, or the drainage screw.

Mind you dripping from the rear of the fuel cooler sounds more dodgy jacking to me....

i was manager at MR Clutch.. there mugs and do anything to cut corners! head office push that sort of behaviour too!

If they do not do nothing keep stamping your feet and they will give you some kind of rebate. what branch was it out of interest as i may be able to help. :)
