Well I did it.

Sold my S-Max 2.5T Titanium [sniff!] and have put a deposit down on a Superb Estate.

It's a Black Magic pearl effect car from the Skoda Approved scheme.

170 PS CR engine with the DSG 'box.

Standard Elegance spec.

Just waiting for VAG Finance to do their thing Monday/Tuesday, garage to service the car & get it fully valeted then collection on Wednesday.

Looking forward to getting my hands on it & fiddling with all the built in toys.

1st job will be changing all the boring filamant bulbs for LED/SMD's, especially those DRL's

Here's to miles of much cheaper motoring!

You will be happy with the CR170 and DSG combo

I presume you got it from Skoda dealer in Worthing, did you manage to negotiate anything off the price?

I'm looking to get a nearly new Superb 1.8TSi Elegance hatch with DSG, 2 dealers I have had 'negotiations' with were not that forthcoming on giving me a reasonable price for my VRS

No, not Worthing, Woking!

Didn't get anything off already decent asking price but got 1yrs RFT, full tank of diesel and a set of Škoda roofbars.

Plus a decent finance rate.

Nice wheels! I will keep an eye out for you, since you're local and all that :giggle:

You So'ton area then?

Very nice looking car, best of luck with it, I'll keep an eye out for it, when I'm around in november.

Do consider mud flaps, especially with Black Magic.

Mudflaps?

Never!

They have only limited applications in my mind - HGV's and rally cars emoticon-0102-bigsmile.gif

Suit yourself. The idea of this forum is to be as helpful as possible.

Enjoy the car.

Phil's correct - they prevent the vast majority of crap from being flung onto your paintwork and are barely visible - see below!

Do mudflaps have any adverse effect on performance etc?

If they keep muck off the car when driving down muddy country lanes, as I often do, then they must be worthwhile?

IMHO, the mudflaps are made of plastic! I would be VERY surprised if they had any effect on the performance in any way, unless the possible loss of maybe a 1/100 or 1/1000 of a second from zero up to unlawful speeds is a severe and really bad experience for you. :) If you look at Rays excellent picture above, you can see what they do for the rear bumper. I can imagine what the absence of them will do for a black painted bumper after a couple of thousand miles. And it ain't gonna be pretty! :'(

Of course they do, when do you ever see a Forumula 1 car with them. Same goes for doors and windows too!

;) ;) ;) ;)
