Hello all

I collected my vRS on Saturday and found this site yesterday.

What simple things can I do to the car to mod it? I've seen on here a part number for a upper strut brace? Does anyone have a picture of it? Do they have the lower one fitted s standard? I fitted the lower to my old mk4 golf. Can you get s centre arm rest for the vRS?

Only done 5 mles in the car so far as I went on holiday Sunday so haven't had chance to drive it :(.

Many thanks

Chris

I think there is a bar integrated inside the rear beam from memory, but the RARB is the way to go. Whiteline seems to be a popular choice and are pretty cheap. Neuspeed are better quality, thicker but much dearer. I found the 24mm Whiteline RARB more than adequate for my needs.

do a search mate, shed loads on this stuff.

Have a good Holiday and welcome to the club lol

std car? leave it std and enjoy, dont start down that steep slkippery sloap. If you MUST the RARB will transform it and a remap but other than that just love it how it is.

If you are determind to go for it..........

Yeah the car is standard bar the tints. I was only maybe thinking of a resonated cat back exhaust the light wieght pulleys and top strut brace. I thought the vRS had a lower brace on as standard? It feels very stiff compared to my mk4 golf I had to put the lower brace on that

Na mate, no lower brace as std.

Personally I would leave the pulleys alone and just get a lightened Fly wheel and clutch done when yours is U/S.

They are pritty good std mate TBH, BUT a total different BEAST when you spend a little on the handlijng stuff Myself, Bowders1, SteveWonder and one or 2 others have :giggle:

Lol if I'd had known there was no lower brace I'd have taken it off my golf before it went lol. When I get back off holiday I'll run the car for a bit and see how I like it if I want more at least I know I can get both front braces and a rear arb.

I only. Mentioned the pullies as I had them done on my old focus st170 and they made a noticeable difference in pick up on that.

There is a front lower brace - it's the ARB.

You can swap it for a (thicker) front ARB off a Mk4 R32 Golf but to be honest you don't want the front end really stiff because it makes the VRS understeer more than it does already (which is quite a lot)

I would leave the standard front one on (maybe get it checked for wear underneath the ARB bushes) and just fit a rear bar like a Whiteline or Neuspeed.

I thought Mk4 Golfs all had a front ARB as well but maybe it was only on the GTIs and R32s

My golf was a gti. They have front anti roll bars but not lower strut braces you can buy a lower strut brace from Vw that just stiffens the the front sub frame. I fitted it to my golf as the car was to soft standard.

Never heard of anyone on here fitting a lower brace to the Octy - but if it fits the Mk4 Golf I guess it would fit the Octy

chicken, its the S3 lower brace mate, you been around for ages, must of heard about it at some point? All it is is 2 crush nuts that you push into holes in the subframe and tighten bit like a rivet. That holds the bar in place.

Doesn't doo a lot just slightly makes the subframe less flexible
