Warning lights!

Featured Replies

Hi all, had my first problem tonight and I hope its not a serious one!

When taking off from a set of traffic lights giving it some stick I got the 'control system for exhaust light' flashing so I panicked an took it easy but the light stopped after about 20-30 secs. Anyway it never came back on until next time I booted it joining a dual carriage way, this time the 'control system for exhaust' came on flashing and then the 'EPC' (electronic power control) came one, the exhaust one went off after 5 seconds but the EPC stayed on until I pulled over an restarted the engine then it went off.

Anyone had this or know what it could be??

No body any ideas?

No body any ideas?

I had this and went on the computer at Skoda.

Read out said I went to the rev limit with engine temp of 51 degrees.

Basically to stop you horseing it when cold.

It's definitely not that, it was at the end of a 60mile motorway trip cruising at 70mph all the way. And the same coming back at the end of the motorway again.

A nukber of us have had this... mine did it once when hoofing away from lights, the car was very new, about 100 miles on the clock, and it has never happened again...

quite a few people have had it though... as long as the warning light doesn't stay on, and it doesn't do it again, I really wouldn't worry, mine has never done it since... if it keeps repeating though, get it back to the dealers (box of first of corse ;) )

Ahh right cheers mate, not done it since, but there is a pending code when I scanned it. C0700 but doesn't give an explanation only that it's manufacture specific.

I'm wondering whether it was the long motorway run then accelerating hard shortly after it shouldn't do it but that's the only thing that was common to the both times it happened.

You say you were on motorway cruising, how many miles on clock and did you have cruise on ? If it's a very young engine and having it on cruisecontrol on is not good, need to alternate speeds for a while rather than steady speeds on cruise for a while .

its got 3000 miles on the clock, on the motorway for about 50 miles, using cruise on a brand new engine wouldn't cause any problems anyway those days are long gone

As said above, I had this happen, but only when I booted it when it was cold. about 600 miles on.

No issues since then. One to keep an eye on I spose...

Only mods at the moment are a TMC tuning box set on default (6) an a K&N panel filter.

Flahing exhaust warning light is common when the car misfires. I only ever get this if i jump in the car when its cold and floor it,which i rarely do. Hopefully it'll be rectified with this new factory map update. Not had it flash any other time.

Disturbing that your EpC light stayed on though, it must have been a pretty pro-longed misfire.

Have you had your car logged since fitting the tmc tuning box? If not how do you know its all running fine, default settings are useless imo as all cars react differently

Will get the update, tghen go back to shark who re-read the new std map, and adapt the remap to incorporate the changes

It's good to know it's nothing to serious, done about 200 miles since I put the box on.

What sort of values need monitoring to see if it's running ok? I'll see if I can log a drive out.

Surprised nobody has asked... What fuel you using?

For the last 200 miles (since I got it) v-power

Boost, fueling, timing, lambda, intake air temperatures etc
