Boost Gauge Wiring

Featured Replies

Hey guys,

Just a quick question, I have a normal mechanical boost gauge and I just wondered if anybody knew which colour wire to tap into off the light switch?

I know the red/black wire is live feed when ignition is switched on, but I want power only when the lights are on, i.e. sidelights onwards.

Don't worry if you don't know for sure as I'll just have to go through each terminal with a multimeter tomorrow

Cheers

Marc

When I did my w8 mod, I went for:

10: -ve/ground

14: +12v instrumentation feed (non-dimmed), this has power when sidelights or headlights are one. If you are being really good you might want to stick a small (1A) fuse in there.

Brill, just what I wanted. Thanks mbames

No worries. We are all here to help :-)

Just for reference, if you need to source power on the otherside of the car, you can always tap into the glovebox light cabling.

Used the wires you said and it worked spot on first time :)

Now just gotta set-up the Newsouth Spectrum gauge from changing colours by its own :D
