Tyre Help !

Featured Replies

I have 15" Pyxis Wheels on my Octy II with 195/65 R15 goodyear tyres. (I know it's pathetic)

Anyways I want to change the tyres, as even though the ride is as smoooth as can be .... I need a little more grip to control the 160 horses... i'm looking at Michelin Pilot Preecedas PP2.

However i want to know if I should go with

205/65 R15

or

225/55 R 15 (primacy LC)

or

something else altogether

This isnt the usual question about 18 or 19" with ultra low profile tyres .....

But I seriously need help with this !!

The roads here are just pathetic and only a minor upsize in the wheels make the ride quality just unbearable .... and even though i would give an arm to have neptunes but it is just not possible here with the **** road we have here...

So coming back to the point of discussion_ which one should I go for so as to have a minimal effect on the ride quality.

Thanks

195*0.65 = 126.75

205*0.65 = 132.9

225*0.55 = 123.05

So the 205/65 will give you a little more wall height, and the 225/55 a shade less.

Both will give you more lateral grip, but neither of them will make a significant difference to longitudenal grip because you'll reshape the contact patch rather than actually increase it.

Sadly, I can't advise you usefully on tyre makes because (based on a recent conversation with a guy in Australia) differences in local temperature and tarmac between the UK and India might well make a difference there.

205/65 seems ideal...

But I seriously doubt a mere 10 mm increase will provide me with any significant increase in grip ..!

If I do go for the 205

Would I be better of with a sporty tyre or a comfort one ?

And how much would the ride actually suffer if I go for an ultra sport tyre ?
