I am looking to get a road legal track car stripped out with cage harnesses etc eg 205 GTI.

Can I get a specialist, limited mileage, insurance policy to cover too and from the track (not on the track), similar to the Rally policies available?

I would have other vehicles for everyday road use.

The "rallies policies" are in addition to normal road insurance and only cover the competitive mileage whilst competing on the road, which most general policies do not cover. Several compeitors have been caught in this trap in the last couple of years either driving to an event, or having withdrawn from the event. Since you will be using the car on the road you will require normal road insurance for VED purposes anyway.

Track Use insurance is available from some of the specialist insurers, but is very expensive.
