Featured Replies

could appreciateabit of advice.Trying to get furby back on road, and found rear pasenger side drum locked. At first thouht it was cable, but looking closer ,as far as i can tell it's the operating lever where it 's joined/pivots at top ( bit the cable is fastened to at bottom of drum )thats very stiff ( can only move arm about acm or two) .Anyone had any experience of problems with the shoe bits .Tempte just to replace shoes although even after a few years theyre onlypart worn .but cant find any info on where the adjusters are .

car -04 1.4TDI.

There is a wedge with a spring pulling it downwards, and this is the auto-adjustment mechanism. You can adjust the shoes in by pushing the wedge up.

where's the thank you thingy when you need it for both replies.Found the adjuster by re-assembling shoes off car and following Haynes - no mention in there( that i can see) for the adjuster but logic led me to that conclusion .Neat & effective though .As also said - lots of dust ,and partial lockup of the handbrake operating lever -possibly not helped by fact car hasnot been used for a few months. Also found hiden away in Haynes the tip to remove stub axle to make more room to work .

Again-many thanks .
