Any ideas?

Featured Replies

Right so the Fabia has gone in again and they've said yet again that it's the EGR valve... 3rd "faulty" one hmmm.... any ideas why this keeps happening or if it's a common problem?

If you have a 1.4 16v engine then it's a VERY common problem, however replacing it, clearing the ECU and correctly adapting the new one should fix it.

What do you mean "3rd faulty one"?

Are you using a main dealer or independent garage?

I think you should put it into a main dealer and let the garage you bought it from pay the bill, if all else fails money back or another fabia? I don't think they'll have fitted 3 new EGR valves, your engine light being lit will be an MOT failure after January 2012 :(

Independent, it's all being done under a warranty. They have fitted 3 so far, 2 from 1 garage and 1 by another. Something to do with it's getting blocked? They had an expert in this time so fingers crossed I'll hear no more of it!!! But if it does come on again I've said I want another Fabia

IIRC isn't there an issue with the pipe that feeds the gases into the base of the EGR getting blocked rather than the problem being with the valve.

I don't know, but they took the EGR off to show me what was happening, should be able to blow air through one way and not the other, but mine you couldn't blow air through either way... so far so good though I've had it back nearly 24 hours and no sign of the EML...

Give it a good blast down the motorway to clear it out :)

The commute to Scotland should be proof enough if it's sorted lol!

That's for sure lol 6 hours of motorway driving will clear out the cobwebs!!
