Numb leg driving vRS?

Featured Replies

Hi everyone ;) this is my first post here, so hello to you all!

Just bought an 05 plate Octavia vRS, very happy with it except for one thing... I am finding that I get pins and needles/a numb leg very soon after getting in the car. It's my left leg and I think it's due to the very huggy seats digging into my left thigh and possibly pressing on a nerve? I have tried adjusting the seat up and down, forwards and backwards and playing with the tilt but as yet there's no improvement

Just wondered if anyone else has had a similar problem and how did you fix it? I LOVE the car and it would be the icing on the cake if I could get a comfortable seating position.

Welcome to the forum

Try to adjust for maximum knee angle would have thought. A high-ish height setting with the based tilted flat, and seat moved forward.

Making sure one's basckside is firmly pressed into the back off the seat helps alot too. Angle of the base of the spine will greatly affect pressure on the thigh, particularly on seat with higher bolsters on the base.

Something like a CG-Lock can really help with positioning in the seat too.

Also, where to you usually "stow" your left foot when not using the clutch? I used to keep it under the pedal, but have recently switched to actually using the footrest following similar cramping.

I get a similar cramp when driving long distance. Only get it in the vRS, and I presume it is to do with the hugging seats.

I find the seats one of the VRS weak points, more so on the twisties, wouldn't call them hugging though.

The back certainly isn't, but the fronts have metal bars down each side which makes them press into my fat ass.

I agree though, they don't give you any proper support in the twisties.

LOL

this is another reason I swapped to these:

They have a higher side boulster so go furter up the leg and dont stick in like the std ones did.

I found that my left leg was ok as I used the rest but my right leg was the trouble and due to where I held my foot my leg was roled over slightly to the door and as a result roled onto the side which pressed on something givving me a cramp/pins n needles. These R32 ones dont do that and are EXTREAMELY nice to sit in and even better in the corners lol

And they look awesome!

How much did they set you back? Did you do the back ones too?

They were £675 with rear bench but took the rears out as they are not a perfect fit and I sold them as needed the room. I kept my fronts tho as they are mint and when the R32s go in (one day) Ill need seats in the car. THe R32s will be done to match the vRS(again one day)

Now your lucky to get the seats for anywhere near that. Some go for well over £1k so I was damn lucky. Been in nearly 2 years now and no probs at all.
