Tapping noise from Climate Control dash flaps

Featured Replies

The tapping noise under the dash coming from the Climate Control flaps is back. I have followed the advice of the forum, which helped for a while and got my dealer to fix under Warranty, which lasted a few months. Just had it in for MOT and asked them to fix again whilst still under warranty, they said they cannot fix it. Are they telling fibs?. The warranty has only a week to go now, should I talk to dealer to try harder and continue to look at it free until fixed, even though warranty my have run out.

Advice guy please

Is this a clicking or tapping sound? If as you describe it is the common VAG Climatronic clicking there is little you can do except to keep having it recalibrated.

If this problem is something different and the problem went away and returned then it should be obvious to the dealer that it is an intermittent or recurring fault and should therefore be fixable.

My first thought is that your dealer is trying to give you the brush-off in the hope you'll accept the tapping and go away.

Don't stand for it, go back and politely tell them you are unhappy with their initial diagnosis and under the warranty provided to you would like them to take another look.

If they refuse contact Skoda Customer Care direct. Make sure you have some sort of confirmation from either the dealer or Skoda that you have raised this issue prior to the warranty expiring and therefore assuming the fix is under the terms of the warranty they are obliged to fix it even if the resolution extends beyond the warranty expiry date.

Mines does this i'm not overly concerned to be honest although i notice it more when heat is on and not cold strange but true lol

I've heard the occasional flapping behind the dash on mine too thinking about it.

I wouldn't describe it as clicking or tapping though.

I wonder if I am talking about the same thing?

Ignition on.

Press and hold AUTO and RECIRC buttons at same time ( i think this is the combo)

Climate Control does auto reset process and stops clicking.

Ignition off.

Job done :)

Mine did this on sunday for the 1st time,i will try the re-set procedure.

I tried the reset on sunday and it worked for me

The recalibration feature in VCDS will fix it short term, but it will come back.

You can run the sequential tests in VCDS that move the flaps from one extreme to the other - that usually fixes mine.
