Too Much Candy White.

Featured Replies

If the wife wants candy white that's what she gets but I already have one and it's bigger.

Means lots of soapy water, jetwash and leather.

Here's my first weekend wash complete.

Aye black is terrible, would never have another black car :( well when I change next year it will be a silver skoda lauretta, so I will be getting rid of both fabia's and purchasing the new mission L (lauretta) in 2012/13

It's amazing how dull the rather nice looking passat looks in White, i really like it in dark blue and black, but a White Passat even with twin pipes manages to look very UNsporty, sorry to be harsh but it's my thoughts.

The white fabia looks nice enough, i saw a white fabia greenline the other day and was quite impressed.

THanks for the pics

white is worse than black imho (i just traded in a black mk1)

every time i drive the white one i see a spec of dirt, no matter how small the bugger is, and i think ffs ive just washed it

looks fantastic when cleaned but its doing my head in already, god only knows what ill be like during winter

No problem, I have exactly the opposite thoughts, the dark colours shout sombre and rep mobile to me but hey that's why they sell cars in different colours.

According to vwaudiforums 2009 - 0.4% of Passats sold in white, 2010 - 3%, 2011 - 8% which is a really high percentage considering the colour choices.

Maybe it's because of the state of the economy and metallic is too expensive.

Winter is very bad, especially if you do motorway miles.

Expect this....

Good news is white is quick and easy to clean, much easier to achieve a half decent job than black.

I've done near black twice before and swore I'd never do it again both times.

Looking good Lee,

If it was me i would take the Dealer sticker out of the Fabia.

Having owned two white and one black car previously all I can say is ... never again :giggle:

they ONLY look nice when they are clean, the white ones were worse than the black one for showing up the dirt, BUT you can get away with a 'quick wash' with white, not so with black.

SWMBO really likes the new TT in white and was tempted with a white car next time ... that was until I told her she would be washing it, she suddenly went off the idea :giggle:

Plus I could never own a white Octavia/Superb/Passat as there are far too many of them as taxi's round here :giggle:

I do 15k a year mainly motorway miles in the Passat and it's suprising how many people brake and move over to let you by in a big white saloon, especially as the Passat has the DRL's enabled.

One lad at work with an RX8 did this just last week and said I nearly gave him a heart attach when he saw the white Passat with lights on catching him up down the outside lane.

Not been mistaken for a taxi yet, must get down town at the weekend and see if any young ladies want a lift home. ;)

Must have had the blue lights on ;)

Think the Passat looks great in white. My last Passat was Tornado Red Estate purely because it was a private purchase and I wanted to look less like a company car.

Now got a Candy White Fabia and a Pepper white Mini. It does show the dirt easy but on the plus side really easy to clean and no worries over swirl marks!

Candy White is also the best white out, the mini looks so dirty next to it even whe clean as does my mates white merc.

Yep same here, paid £25k as a private purchase so last thing I wanted was a company car look.

I do like white and it isn't that bad to keep clean, easier than black.

This was my thought initially, but i didn't wanna say, but yes basically the white passat just looks like a taxi to me, but then all taxi's in Tunbridge Wells are white by default, they see to stick to 3-4 tyoe of car, mostly Octavia's, quite a few Superbs and Passats and a few Mondeo's.

all are white, it's probably why i wasn't keen on yours in white, because if i was on a night out and looking for a taxi you would end up being hailed by my.

put some red racing stripes down it and u're probs safe

No problems around here. Two taxi areas so one area had white cars, black bonnett, black roof and black boot. Other area has white cars with blue bonnett, roof and boot.

Private hire any colour.

Mondeo and Octavia seem the most popular.

The Passat looks quite different in the flesh being debadged, 17% tints and exhaust. Interior is the usual vw black dash, black door cards, black capets and black leather broken up with a little silver trim and a touch screen display. 12 way mfsw is great though makes maxidot, mdi navigation, phone etc very easy, I find the stalk Skoda fit to be a bit of a pain.

If it wasn't for the waiting times I may have been swayed into a Superb Elegance Tdi DSG but couldn't wait 6 months for one.

White is a good colour but them I'm biased and it's easy to keep clean too especially if it's waxed and sealed. Doesn't look that bad dirty either. Far better than black.

Very true, I had Lifeshine on the Passat from new, a treatment that does allow treatments on top and I reseal every two or three months. The Fabia is three years old but has only done 9k miles and has always been handwashed. I had the paint clay barred, waxed and sealed as soon as we bought it and I'll re do it when the water isn't beading off as much.

Going round with the jetwash first leaves the cars virtually clean before I go over them with the wash mitt. The time saving comes when drying, on dark cars you get streakes and water marks unless you get every last water drop off. With white a quick wipe over and your left with a good result.

Only pain are the multi spoke alloy wheels on the Passat you need to get right inbetween with an alloy wheel brush. They will be off soon before the salt hits the road and replaced with steelies so a quick jetwash is all they will get.

Cheers
